Ride Like…Michael Hodgson

Breaking your pony to drive, in a many ways, is a lot like breaking your pony to ride; it can be done well, or it can be done very badly. However, where as a horse that misbehaves and has poor manners can still be ridden, when a carriage is involved it can be even more dangerous and go wrong very quickly.

Eighteen-year-old carriage driver Michael Hodgson started horse riding aged four. Today Mike has countless national titles under his belt with both single and multiple turnouts, and in our July edition he shares his expert advice with Absolute Horse readers on breaking a pony to drive.
